The Penticton Secondary School
Photography and previously, McDonalds Photography have been
taking individual grad photos for
Boxes and boxes of negatives from those grad photo sessions of the past have been stored, moved, stored and moved again over the last 40 years. Each year, grad photos from the past are needed for various reasons, and having them available has been of great service and comfort to many customers.
With the 100 year anniversary of Penticton High School, it was decided that this archive of historical images needed to be digitized. This would allow them to be seen again by family and friends, and help further preserve and protect this legacy. It is rare for a high school to have a continuous photo record spanning 40 years. Most school photography firms discard their original negatives after only a few years.
The school has started with digitizing the first 5 years (1972 - 1976 inclusive) to have them available for viewing at the Pen High 100 year celebrations. We have started on 1977 and will continue as the interest grows. You can request to have your grad photo digitized from any year up to 2002 for a small extra fee. Scans are retouched, enhanced and have dust and scratches removed.
Donations can be made to Pen High 100 to help with the labour and costs of this project. Prints and digital file downloads can also be purchased online at the link below.
